Abstract

ORDONEZ PINTADO, Ariel Ronaldo; TRELLES MENDEZ, Jessica Aracely; ZAPATA HIDALGO, Christian David  and  RAMOS MONTIEL, Ronald Roossevelt. Cephalometric proportionality between the chin and its anterior projection in young Andean adults. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.5, pp. 439-444.  Epub Oct 02, 2021. ISSN 2218-3620.

The facial biotype of a person can be affected due to several internal and external factors during the growth and development of the bony structures of the skull and face. The chin is part of these structures and is projected based on typical characteristics that define the facial profiles of each individual; the objective of this work was to know the cephalometric proportionality of the chin and its anterior projection in young Andean adults. A quantitative correlational study with a non-experimental documentary-retrospective design was carried out with a sample of 384 lateral skull radiographs. The results allowed estimating a moderate positive correlation between the study variables. In conclusion, the present investigation shows that the height and width of the chin is directly proportional to its anterior projection.

Keywords : Correlation; cephalometry; symphysis; chin.
