The teaching-learning process at the Medical University of Cienfuegos, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, has undergone transformations in terms of learning methods and means, in a context that demands profound and revolutionary efforts, in correspondence with the growth of science and technology, where ICTs have become essential tools for teachers and students. This new challenge can be interpreted from the point of view of educational neurosciences as an opportunity for the training and perfection of the teaching staff focused on distance education tasks. This work puts forward the idea to approach distance learning with the human and technological resources that support it. For this purpose, several articles published in different databases were consulted, of which 17 are referenced. The training process of students in the health sector demands the development of competencies that are not only framed in the curricular order. From the neurosciences approach, changes are produced in cognitive and affective processes, in behavior and executive functions, as a result of the interaction with the context, which is in turn translated as the development of new competences.
