TORRES CALZADILLA, Zaydelys Lucrecia; ALZURI BARRUETA, Noharis Sochi  y  LOPEZ RODRIGUEZ DEL REY, María Magdalena. Encouraging motivation for reading in the teacher training process in universities. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.1, pp. 584-588.  Epub 10-Feb-2022. ISSN 2218-3620.

Teaching programs in higher education objectively address student’s humanistic formation. First stages, in particular, give priority to pedagogical, psychological and didactic theories that later ensure success in the school practice. To achieve it, students are submitted to an intense input of knowledge from different sources that mediate the learning process. In this regard, the curriculum regulations give reading especial importance in the formative process for it nurtures habits, abilities and values that contribute to the achievement of cultural and formative goals within the professional model of education. Field experiences and an associated research carried out by the authors on reading promotion, show the importance of stimulating motivation towards reading at early stages of the teachers training process, amid a pedagogical environment where reading becomes a path to a broad cultural awareness.
