Resumen

PIRE ROJAS, Alexis. The school-family relationship: an analysis of communication, participation and technological scenarios in covid-19 times. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.2, pp.75-84.  Epub 02-Abr-2022. ISSN 2218-3620.

The phenomenon of homes becoming classrooms during virtual education caused by the COVID-19 pandemic became a challenge for the entire educational community. The focus had to turn even more towards education outside the school boundaries in order to take into account such important aspects as the students' family environment. For this reason, the study of the school-family relationship in this context becomes even more important. The present article is based on this line, whose objective is to analyze communication, participation and the technological scenario based on an instrument applied to teachers and families in four educational units in Quito, Ecuador. It is a quantitative and descriptive study that seeks, through the measurement of data, to specify the characteristics and important features of the analyzed phenomenon. Among the main results are that in the face-to-face modality communication flows better; however, in the virtual modality there is greater participation of the family. Insufficient technological resources and lack of time for training were the most frequent problems in terms of technology, and when comparing the availability of resources between families in public and private schools, a technological gap was observed as a sign of the inequity of the educational system.
