This research was conducted based on the importance of axiology and natural law in the construction of an ethical justification of law. The hermeneutic philosophical method was used, given that it proposes a critical and anti-dogmatic use of reason, allowing to ponder how the ethical-valuative dimension has been developing in current debates and, to that extent, to evaluate the possible orientations for the ethical justification of law. In this sense, the aim of this paper was to carry out a critical analysis of the higher ethical principles that act as value criteria for the ethical justification of law based on the notions of axiology and natural law.
