HUAMANI ASTOCAZA, Luz Luisa; CHAVEZ ARAUJO, Elmer René; SANCHEZ ARAUJO, Víctor Guillermo y SAEZ HUAMAN, Wilfredo. Organic matter evaluation of the Ichu river basin, Peru. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.2, pp. 588-596. Epub 02-Abr-2022. ISSN 2218-3620.
The research presents the evaluation of organic matter from the Ichu River micro-basin. The objective was to determine the percentage of biodegradable organic matter removal from the Ichu River micro-basin in the Huancavelica city sector. The applied methodology was of an explanatory level, for which, the biochemical oxygen demand BOD5 was determined in six sampling points during a period of four months, the average temperature of the water body, the potential of hydrogen in situ and the percentage of removal of organic matter. The population consisted of the river water flow; the sample was half a liter per experimental unit. The results show variations in BOD5 from 20.8 mg/L to 27 mg/L in low waters, exceeding 10 mg / L of the ECA Environmental Quality Standard and 5.93% removal of biodegradable organic matter. According to the Peruvian environmental standard in the river sector corresponding to the city of Huancavelica, the BOD5 does not comply with the ECA for water, this is category 4 of conservation of the aquatic environment, consequently, a low percentage of removal of biodegradable organic matter from the Ichu River is evidenced.
