This research addresses the presence and criteria of university rankings, which have gained popularity in the educational field and in the management of the institutions that incorporate them in the last decade. The objective of the study is to analyze the evaluation criteria for placement. In consideration of the nature of the problem, a quantitative exploratory methodology was used, which allowed analyzing the four Higher Education Institutions that have greater presence in the province of Azuay. SEO tools were applied to evaluate the visibility criteria of the Webometrics ranking, which publishes biannually information on more than 31,000 institutions worldwide.
