Abstract

NAVARRO FALCON, Víctor Manuel. Theoretical relationship between the new emerging approaches for sustainable development and environmental management. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2023, vol.15, n.6, pp. 272-278.  Epub Dec 10, 2023. ISSN 2218-3620.

The growing development and economic exploitation has aggravated the global environmental problem and the Nature-Society conflict. The inefficiency and inability to solve new environmental problems and harmful situations by traditional means, have motivated the emergence of new approaches to promote sustainable development and the integrated solution of current environmental problems. Besides, the Environmental Managment is the broadest and most comprehensive degree of planning, to achieve a sustainable and harmonious territorial socio-economic development. This work had the objective of theoretically relating the new emerging approaches for sustainable development, with the Environmental Ordering derived from the Geoecology of the Landscape in Geography, for the solution of conflicts and environmental problems. For this, a bibliographical review and critical analysis of the concepts, ideas, objectives and practices of both the approaches and the Environmental Managment were carried out. These were then compared to look for possible interrelationships, similarities, affinities and forms of joint application. As a result, it was demonstrated that both between the approaches, as well as between these with Environmental Managment, there are great conceptual, practical and theoretical-methodological convergences, being comparable in vision and paradigm. The approaches can synergize and develop their research within the framework of Environmental Managment.

Keywords : Environmental Managment; New emerging approaches; Sustainable development.
