Abstract

JIMENEZ MONTENEGRO, José Milton; IGLESIAS QUINTANA, Janneth Ximena; CANGAS ONA, Lola Ximena  and  JIMENEZ IGLESIAS, Elvis Adrián. Importance of addressing the concept of victim in the context of gender-based violence. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2023, vol.15, n.6, pp. 737-745.  Epub Dec 20, 2023. ISSN 2218-3620.

The present research addresses the problem of gender violence in the Ecuadorian context, recognizing the importance of involving students in the direct understanding of social problems through linkage projects. The lack of knowledge about rights and legal protection stands out, especially in the middle and lower social strata, which contributes to the perpetuation of violence. Historical-logical, inductive and deductive methods are used to analyze background information, specific cases and international comparisons, providing a deep understanding of the problem. The results show the existence of a solid legal framework in Ecuador, supported by the Constitution and international treaties, but limited effectiveness in preventing violence is noted, especially in cases that affect minors and men. The need to diligently confront gender violence is highlighted.
