Abstract

The objective of this article is to share the experience of identifying Key Monitoring Areas at the Indio Hatuey Experimental Station. To this end, Step 5 of the specific procedure for developing the Plan phase of the general application procedure for technological surveillance (TS), it is implemented as part of the Strategic Information and Knowledge Management program at scientific centers, with the support of experts and an analysis of strategic groups. Thirteen disruptive or emerging Key Surveillance Areas (KSAs) and 12 "traditional" KSAs of interest to the scientific center are identified, as well as three Research, Development and Innovation (R+D+i) institutions from other countries that are considered benchmarks. It is concluded that the identification of SLAs and benchmark institutions is crucial for updating the Station's R+D+i Strategy and for its implementation over the next five years.
