Abstract

MORALES RICO, Jesús Enrique; MARTINEZ GARCIA, Ramsés Daniel  and  ALTAMIRANO SANTIAGO, Mijael. Importance of Academic Tutoring at the University Center for Forensic and Legal Research Plantel Huixquilucan. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2025, vol.17, n.3  Epub June 30, 2025. ISSN 2218-3620.

This chapter offers a detailed analysis of the main empirical findings derived from the application of an academic tutoring program carried out with 14 high school students. It is worth mentioning that some of them had had dropout experiences in previous institutions and their current performance was below expectations, placing them at risk of failing the current school year. An academic tutoring process was carried out emphasizing three fundamental elements: 1) behavioral regulation by students, 2) periodic communication with parents, 3) establishment of agreements with teachers. The results suggested that 13 students showed greater motivation and commitment in delivering final activities, as well as actions that suggested an increase in their school responsibility. It is worth mentioning that one student was not included in the closing of the tutorial due to the express request of her parents. On the other hand, the information obtained was theoretically analyzed under the sociological and psychosocial models, allowing us to conclude that academic tutoring plays an essential role in the consolidation of life skills and in the display of positive emotions to face school challenges and every day. In contrast, the same study reveals the need to delve into other variables of interest, for example, parental influence on their children's decision-making.
