SUAREZ IZNAGA, Rodolfo et al. Ozone therapy in the treatment of dehiscent surgical wound complicated with vesicocutaneous fistula. Rev. CENIC Cienc. Biol [online]. 2020, vol.51, n.2, pp. 109-120.  Epub 01-Ago-2020. ISSN 2221-2450.

The purpose was to evaluate the effect of rectal insufflation ozone therapy in patients with complicated dehiscent surgical wound with vesicocutaneous fistula.A prospective descriptive investigation of cases with this diagnosis was carried out, to which ozone therapy was applied without randomization, or a control group. All patients were treated with antibiotics and cure of wound. The selected sample was 40 cases with the disease, 1 to 5 days of evolution. The period studied was from January 2014 to September 2018. The patients underwent rectal insufflation ozone therapy with volumes between 100 and 150 mL and concentrations of 20 to 25 µg / mL, for 20 sessions. The variables used were: sex, age group, response to ozone therapy and side effects of the treatment. To determine the existence of a statistically significant relationship in the response variable to treatment with ozone therapy according to demographic characteristics, the Chi-square test with a significance level α = 0.05 was used, being positive if p <0.05. Male patients and those over 60 were the most affected groups. The excellent therapeutic effect was achieves in 95% of the patients. The use of ozone therapy combined with, antibiotics and local cures was an effective and safe therapeutic option in patients diagnosed with complicated dehiscent abdominal surgical wound with vesicocutaneous fistula 1 to 5 days later.
