ALVES DE AGUIAR, Beatriz et al. COMPOSITION, STRUCTURE, ISOLATION AND ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY OF SECONDARY METABOLITES FROM BROWN ALGAE. Rev. CENIC Cienc. Biol [online]. 2022, vol.53, n.3, pp. 268-287. Epub 01-Dic-2022. ISSN 2221-2450.
Recently, the search for natural antioxidants for the creation of new drugs and/or drug enhancers has been growing. In this context, brown algae stand out for having in their extracts compounds with antioxidant activity such as fucoidans, phlorotannins, fucoxanthin, and laminaria. This review summarizes the main research into important metabolites found during the analysis of brown algae, as well as performing evaluation of antioxidant activity, both in vitro and in vivo, of bioactive compounds from brown seaweed.
