The investigation deals with the recycling of high density polyethylene, due to its great use for the state sector and private sector in the municipality of Holguín. The study yielded the difficulties in the processing methods, and that the obtained products show diminished properties and shorter useful life. As results of the investigation, a procedure for the plastic waste management is proposed, which has been experimentally validated. The recycled material obtained by the use of the proposal shows acceptable quality, and it is suitable for different uses, what was demonstrated by means of its characterization.
