Faced with the need to replace fossil fuels, hydrogen has been considered a promising secondary source of clean energy. This work summarizes the main Cuban contributions to the development of this energy source, highlighting the national alternatives to adapt its production and consumption to the existing conditions in our country. The analysis of the results reached up to date, suggests the need to enhance the links between the basic industry and the academy to support a technological active vigilance with regard to the advance of this energetic vector.
