El presente trabajo se realizó con el objetivo de evaluar el tratamiento de agua, por medio de un sistema de ablandadores en función de las propiedades físicas de la resina Lewatit S 1667 de origen alemán, resina seleccionada para la remoción de la dureza. El sistema de intercambio catiónico demanda un volumen de resina de 5 m3 y una altura de lecho de 1,59 m, el cual requirió una altura de la columna de 3 m. La cantidad de agua de servicio que se debe tratar es de un caudal promedio de 57 m3/h (250 gpm). El ablandador trabaja por un tiempo de 22 h por ciclo. Con pruebas de carga efectuadas se pudo eliminar la dureza de 252 mg/L a 0,0916 mg/L representando un rendimiento del 96,36%. La capacidad de útil de la resina aun cuenta con grado de actividad de un 1,4 eq/L lo que representa un 68% de la capacidad total de la resina.

The present work was carried out with the objective of evaluating the water treatment, the medium of a softener system and the function of the physical properties of the resin. The cation exchange system demands a resin volume of 5 m3 and a bed height of 1,59 m, which requires a column height of 3 m. The amount of service water to be treated is an average of 57 m3/h (250 gpm). The softener works for a time of 2 2h per cycle. With load tests carried out, the duration of 252 mg/L to 0,0916 mg/L could be eliminated, representing a yield of 96,36%. The useful capacity of the resin in an account with an activity level of 1,2 eq/L, which represents 60% of the total capacity of the resin.
