^les^aCon el objetivo de emplear los diámetros del huevo para el cálculo del volumen y superficie y su correlación con otros caracteres externos en gallinas reproductoras se realizó un experimento con un diseño completamente al azar en los tres propósitos en explotación. Se tomaron 7 102 huevos, distribuidos en reproductoras ligeras 3 554, reproductoras pesadas 1 011 y turquinas 2 537 a las edades de 2-3; 7-8 y 10-11 meses de puesta, respectivamente. En el cálculo del volumen (Kv) se obtuvieron valores entre 0,531 y 0,527 para pesadas y turquinos; el cálculo de superficie (Ks) osciló entre 2,885 y 2,866 para reproductoras pesadas y ligeras, respectivamente. Se obtuvieron volúmenes de 52,46 a 57,11 para las reproductoras pesadas y turquinos, respectivamente. La superficie fluctuó entre 64,23 y 71,71 ; los índices de yema, clara y unidades Haugh mostraron diferencias significativas (P < 0,05) para los tres propósitos influenciado por el tiempo de almacenaje de los huevos antes de la incubación. Los resultados demostraron que los huevos estudiados en los tres propósitos de gallinas reproductoras presentan, de forma general, características internas y externas satisfactorias que garantizan la eficiencia de la incubación.^len^aWith the aim of using the diameters of the egg for the calculation of the volume and surface and their correlation with other external characters in hens reproducer was carried out an experiment totally at random with a design in the three purposes in exploitation.
