PENA-PENATE, Adrián; SILVA ROJAS, Luis Guillermo  e  ALCOLEA NUNEZ, Rubén. Model filtering and segmentation of digital medic images for Vismedic project. Rev cuba cienc informat [online]. 2016, vol.10, n.1, pp.13-27. ISSN 2227-1899.

Technological advancement devices for obtaining radiological examination of digital medical images and advancement of computer systems, improves display quality through filtering and segmentation algorithms. Allowing select anatomical structures of interest of digital medical images for better clinical diagnosis. In this paper a module that encapsulates various filtering techniques and segmentation of digital medical images using the Insight Segmentation and Registration Toolkit (ITK) library, with the aim of improving the quality of the display of these images is proposed. To develop this work, the modeling language UML used the CASE tool Visual Paradigm, the C++ programming language, such as Qt development framework, as development and QT Creator. The proposed module is independent from the steps of Reconstruction and Visualization of three-dimensional structures of Vismedic project, through the transformation of the acquired data for processing and returning in the same type of data that was received. As an application result was obtained with a common communication interface that provides the ability to add new filtering and segmentation algorithms to extend the application without modifying other stages of the visualization of digital medical images. Comparisons between filtering and segmentation algorithms incorporated in the solution in terms of the quality of the final image obtained was performed.
