ABSTRACT At present the opacity of the posterior capsule is the most frequent postoperative complication after a patient is operated on for cataract. In the present research digital image processing is used to automatically diagnose this disease, using images from PENTACAM, high resolution. The solution is based on the use of techniques of enhancement, improvement and segmentation to obtain images that facilitate its later analysis. Emphasis is placed on a fusion of the Hough Transform and Active Contours algorithm since it is necessary to identify regions with a great variety of their structures. These techniques were implemented through the use of free technologies, complying with the policies of technological sovereignty established in the country.
