Abstract

ROMAN HERNANDEZ, Enrique Joaquín  and  ROMAN HERNANDEZ, Jorge Juan. Communication and behavioral motivation in the subjective construction of risk perception. About the COVID-19 pandemic. Anales de la ACC [online]. 2021, vol.11, n.3  Epub Dec 01, 2021. ISSN 2304-0106.

The perception of risk constitutes a fundamental concept in prevention actions in health. The information issued is important, but its effectiveness depends on how it is generated, transmitted, received and processed by people. The issuer has control over the first two elements, but not over the rest. The person is not a passive being, at the expense of external influences. The person actively interprets the messages received based on their interests, experiences, contexts, expectations, fears, etc. Integrate his experience with the information consumed and configure his notion of risk. This process, which the authors call "risk subjectivities" conditions the development of behavior. Both processes, communication and subjectivities of risk, will make up your “risk perception” and your behavior. Ignoring the elements that determine the efficiency of communication and the subjectivities of risk can reduce the effects of prevention actions.

Keywords : Risk perception; risk; communication; subjectivity.
