The library in «General Calixto García Íñiguez» Faculty of Medical Sciences was facing great economic and material hardship as well as difficulties in the field of organizational culture. The objective of the present paper is to describe the re-engineering process undergone by the library, consisting in the transfer of knowledge, methods, procedures and technologies provided by the National Medical Library. Among the main results of the process are the development and improvement of the technical, service and management processes conducted at the library in compliance with regulations of the National Network of Libraries of the Cuban National Health System.
