A qualitative-quantitative participatory action study was conducted from March to September 2017 to promote awareness of vector-borne diseases in the population of Health Area 7 of Previsora polyclinic in Camagüey. The study universe was composed of 1 635 people, from whom a sample of 250 was selected by simple random sampling. Analysis was based on the application of tools such as a survey applied to the study population and observation. Results show that there is ignorance about which vector-borne diseases occur in the area and their routes of transmission. Completion of the diagnostic stage was followed by the development of a library outreach system of activities. The specialists consulted for its validation highlighted the feasibility and relevance of the proposal. It is recommended to implement the library outreach activities proposed and extend the initiative to other health units in the province.
