Resumen

FERNANDEZ LUQUE, Antonia María. On-the-job digital competence training for health professionals. Rev. cuba. inf. cienc. salud [online]. 2019, vol.30, n.2, e1322.  Epub 01-Jun-2019. ISSN 2307-2113.

The Internet has changed the way in which health sciences libraries offer information to professionals and citizens at large, giving rise to a debate about the functions and competences that libraries should have in the 21st century. The clinical librarian as trainer currently plays a relevant role as an expert in information management, as well as in information channels and flows. An evaluation was conducted of reading and writing habits among professionals from the East of Málaga Health Management Area. Results showed a poor use of tools, resources, dissemination channels and information distribution. With the purpose of correcting such deficiencies, a training program was designed to develop the basic digital competences proposed in the European Union's Horizon 2020 program. The aim of the study was to design, implement and evaluate a training program based on the guidelines of the European Digital Competence Framework. Use was made of the teaching platforms of the health area, alongside editing, distribution and communication tools, which were included in the training to foster "learning by doing". It is concluded that digital competences should be viewed as cross-sectional competences in the curricular design of health professionals. A command of such competences will allow professionals to work efficiently in the context of eHealth and the knowledge society.
