Abstract

ABSTRACT: This article is about a group of subjects that, interrelated, have given rise to great debates in contemporaneity: the scientific and technological development, the Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs), Bioethics and sustainable development. From the specific study of the Cuban context, are addressed issues of sustainability science against GMOs; the environmental impact of genetically modified vaccines and their relationship with the environment; the proposal Bioethics and citizen education as a driver of sustainability. In general, is discussed the influence that the Cuban science has had in environmental development, with particular emphasis on the impact of transgenic in Cuba; and some keys are suggested to promote sustainable development from Cuban science.
