This article contains an epistemological approach on the community as a strategic space, quality of life and university extension as an interface for community work as a process of transformation. A cross-sectional study was performed, using research tools such as surveys, interviews, participatory techniques, descriptive statistics and methods for project validation. The diagnosis made reflected weaknesses in the current state of the program indicators prioritized by the Ministry of Higher Education.
