In this article, the role of the university concerning the knowledge processes of Sciences and Technology and their social uses, are presented and explained. Special attention is given to extensionist and communicative functions, including the knowledge actors, their communicative competence and practices together with their relationship towards the accomplishment of their responsibility to share the knowledge gathered from the teaching and research processes by means of extensionist work, with to the society, in the context of present reform of Cuban economic model.
