The article exposes the comprehensive concept of formation as a social historical process and consequently with this it analyzes the concept of integral formation in higher education focused on the student as a whole. It presents the Cuban vision on this matter on the basis of the educational policy and "The Reform of Higher Education in Cuba", ideology that underlies the educational strategy of the higher education system called "Integral Approach for Educational Work and Ideological Policy in the College". Particular emphasis is made on the figure of the Principal Teacher of the Academic Year, coordinator of the system of educational actions that are deployed by teachers and students in the basic link of the training.
