The purpose of this article is to approach the work of one of the most notable exponents of the Theory of Dependency, the Brazilian economist and sociologist Ruy Mauro Marini, through the analysis of his 1973 work "Dialectic of Dependence". Analyze the power relations established between the countries of the center and the periphery from the approach of the dependency exposed by the author. The Unit becomes a central analytical category to explain underdevelopment in Latin America, to which are added other categories such as superexploitation, and sub-imperialism. Its conception about the term allows us to understand the economic dependence existing in the peripheral countries, not only as a process generated and maintained by asymmetric relations in the international market; but also and more importantly, conditioned by the mechanisms and platforms through which central capitalism is based in Latin American economies.
