One of the challenges facing Cuban higher education today is the improvement of the quality of its management model, where strategic planning is inserted as a process that helps to guide its future development. The long experience accumulated in this field and the need to take advantage of opportunities for innovation and improvement require a characterization and evaluation of its current practice to avoid features of obsolescence and traditionalism. For this reason, a group of institutions undertook a study that made it possible to address this problem from three dimensions: the methodologies used, the content of the strategic plan and the management of the process that supports it. The objective of this work is to show the procedure used to execute this evaluation from a global and comparative analysis between the participating institutions, as well as the main results obtained.
