CARAM LEON, Tania et al. Male-Dominated Degree Courses at the University of Havana-Gender Constructions by Students and Academics. Estudios del Desarrollo Social [online]. 2020, vol.8, n.1 Epub 14-Abr-2020. ISSN 2308-0132.
This paper presents the results of a study aimed at identifying factors which cause some degree courses at the University of Havana to be dominated by both male students and academics. Mixed methods research was carried out, including statistical and document analyses. A questionnaire was used, where Physics, Computer Science, and Mathematics students and professors in the academic year 2018-2019 were asked to respond to open-ended and closed-ended questions. The results show the sexist character of higher education and a gender imbalance in this sector.
