This paper deals with such fundamental aspects of the conception of genuine culture as opposed to domination culture as autonomy, freedom and the common good, when raising children considering them to be legal subjects. Historical and theoretical concepts from cultural humanism and philosophy of education and law are used. Ethical and normative practices in childhood education are critically analyzed. This paper is aimed at suggesting a way of balancing heteronomy and autonomy when raising children. Considering children to be legal subjects is novel.
