The research addresses the theme of traditional Viñales craftsmanship as a factor of social development and the need for its preservation. The distinctive elements of the sector and artisanal production in Viñales are examined, the current state of preservation of the tradition is evaluated, the relationship of craftsmanship-tourism is valued in the current context of cultural tourism in the territory, as well as the impacts of tourism activity on it. The study was conducted from a descriptive-explanatory research perspective and the recurrence of methods of theoretical and empirical levels including logical history, along with synthesis analysis procedures, as well as scientific research techniques such as participating observation, interview and survey. As a contribution to the research, a Sociocultural Animation Strategy is presented, as a methodological proposal for socio-educational action and a tool for change in the direction of social development.
