This article reveals the potential offered by the structuring of all basic and general subjects in an Institute of Basic Sciences (IBS), like the one that exists at the Technological University of Havana, to strengthen professional training and retention processes in the first years of careers, through the establishment of higher levels of interdisciplinary relationships. It presents the partial results of a research leading to the scientific degree, linked to an unassociated project on university retention, and in particular it stands out: the modeling, from the IBS, of the interdisciplinary relationships of the subjects of the basic training cycle, its graphic representation in the curricular mesh of the cycle, and a set of actions to promote interdisciplinarity in terms of university retention in the first years of the degrees. While presenting the scientific debate and discussion of the topic and the conclusion is reached that the objective of: argue the establishment of interdisciplinarity taking advantage of the structure provided by the IBS for teaching and retention work during the Basic Training Cycle; has been fulfilled in the research activity, and in this article.
