The emergence of online social networks in the political sphere increases interest in the use of the Internet, in particular Twitter during election campaign periods. This paper is interested in addressing the presence of memes during the first quarter in the framework of the popular consultation and referendum 2018. The objective is to identify the main themes and communicational flows between users within the network. The methodology is developed from content analysis, selecting the most relevant tweets during the study period. These tweets are selected from a search in hashtags. The study found that the most relevant issues are linked to the political positions and decisions, works and actors related to the governments of former President Rafael Correa and the current president Lenín Moreno.
