Resumen

CASTILLO OLIVA, Gerardo José et al. Percutaneous fixation with Kirschner needle in patients with the distal end radius fractures. Acta méd centro [online]. 2022, vol.16, n.1, pp.90-102.  Epub 31-Mar-2022. ISSN 2709-7927.

Introduction:

fractures of the distal end of the radius are very frequent and most of them require surgical reduction.

Objectives:

to characterize patients with fractures of the distal third of the radius treated surgically with percutaneous fixation with K-wires according to epidemiological and clinical variables of interest.

Methods:

a cross-sectional, descriptive and prospective study with a quantitative-qualitative approach was carried out at the “Arnaldo Milián Castro” Hospital of Villa Clara Province, in the period from September 1, 2018 to August 31, 2019. The universe was integrated by all patients with confirmed diagnosis of fractures of the distal end of the radius treated surgically with percutaneous fixation with K-wires and the sample by 22.

Results:

fractures of the distal third of the radius were more frequent in female patients, A2 and B1 fractures were fixed more regularly, radiography played a decisive role in the evaluation and follow-up and the few complications showed the validity of this simple and inexpensive treatment.

Conclusions:

the results of surgical treatment of fractures of the distal third of the radius treated with percutaneous fixation with K-wires were evaluated, most of the patients presented satisfactory results (excellent or good)

Palabras clave : distal radius fractures; percutaneous fixation; wrist injuries.
