MENENDEZ PEDRAJA, Yiset et al. Predictive ability of fetal biometric measurements and fetal weight estimation for newborn trophic status. Acta méd centro [online]. 2022, vol.16, n.4, pp.655-664.  Epub 31-Dez-2022. ISSN 2709-7927.

Introduction:

fetal ultrasound allows the assessment of anthropometric data that provide information on gestational age and fetal growth.

Objective:

to valorize the predictive capacity of fetal biometric measurements and the estimation of fetal weight for deviations in the trophic condition of the newborn.

Methods:

a descriptive cross-sectional research was conducted in the City of Santa Clara in the period between 2013 and 2016. The study population was 2 529 pregnant women who underwent obstetric ultrasound pregnancy control and the sample was 2 228, selected by non-probabilistic sampling by criteria. Data collection was done through the Genetics Record Book of the health area.

Results:

the category of normal was predominant in the variables biparietal diameter, head circumference and abdominal circumference of fetuses born later with trophic condition of adequate for gestational age (between 10 and 90 percentiles) and the values of femoral length move in the normal range regardless of trophic conditions at birth. There is coincidence between the percentile approximations obtained for each variable and the results obtained for the trophic condition at birth.

Conclusions:

In general, there is a predominance of coincidence between the percentile approximations obtained for each variable and the results obtained for the trophic condition at birth.
