ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF TWO NEW STRAINS OF TRICHODERMA IN MATANZAS PROVINCE FOR THE CONTROL OF PHYTOPATHOGEN FUNGUS

 

Dear Sir:

Samples of Ferralitic red soil were collected in sugarcane and forest areas of the CPA Gabriel Valiente in the municipality of Colón, Matanzas province, from January to June 2007. The Trichoderma isolates obtained amounted 126 with two of them showing good antagonistic effects against Rhizoctonia solani Kühn, Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc. and Fusarium sp. These isolates were classified as Trichoderma harzianum Rifai and T. longibrachiatum Rifai according to Gams and Bisset (1998) and they are reported for the first time in this province.
