Cultivo de orégano francés (Plecthranthus amboinicus [Lour.] Spreng.) para la producción de fitofármacos
Dra. Lérida Acosta, Lic. Rosa Menéndez, Dr. Víctor Fuentes, Dr. Jorge Pino, Téc. Carlos Rodríguez, y Téc. Caridad CarballoRESUMEN
SUMMARY
A agricultural-technical, and phytochemical studies on French origan (Plecthrantus amboinicus [Lour] Spreng) allowed best conditions for its culture aimed to the production (for our pharmaceutical industry) of new drugs having expectorant and antitussive action, in addition to others having antiepilectic and antiseptic properties. Studies conducted on this plant suggest that the culture should be performed putting in the stakes vertically, 40 cm apart one from the other in furrows at a distance of 90 cm. Such studies also suggest that harvest of the leaves should begin after 5th and 6th month of age, and the rest (up to 4 cuts more) every two months,so as to obtain more than 128 t/ha of fresh material and 188 kg/ha of essential oil, as well as a plague-free culture since only attack of Cercospora sp, to very dense plantations has been reported up to this moment. The study on drying evidenced that the best method was the artificial one which lasts from 5 to 6 days and yields a ratic of fresh material:dried material of about 10:1. The dynamics of accumulation evidenced that the highest content of oil (0,38 % and 79,83 kg/ha) is obtained first cutting of 5 months old plants and that its main component, carvacrol, is avaible in a high proportion.Key words: Plants, medicinal; Excessive croaps; Drug industry; Antitussive agents.
