Dear Readers:

The pandemic caused by SARS-COV-2 has removed all healthcare and the economy systems worldwide, sparking off the need to adjust the strengths and weaknesses that allow identifying the own vulnerabilities, and to take advantage of the opportunities to deal with and elicit a response to favor the well being of the population.

This situation updated the national systems for disaster prevention, mitigation and response, where Cuba with a strong system of science, technology and innovation has rightly proven to deal with COVID-19, the strategic gears among all sectors of the society, where the healthcare system, called by means of its experts, established the protocols for the care and management of the disease, allowing a timely response which is evidenced by the improvement of indicators, and thanks to the management of innovative protocols with the scientific and technical proficiency developed by the Cuban healthcare system.

In this aspect, the role of the scientific communication has stood up through the interchanges at all levels between the research scientists and the decision-makers of State policies, along with the contribution of the main protagonists in the battle against the disease, in addition to publications that contribute to the search of better options to make decisions for a most effective control.

A decade of collaborative work leading the editorial team of the journal, with the participation of so many professionals and technicians in their various roles, the comprehensive work developed during these years for the improvement, writing and completion of manuscripts for publication, the widening of sessions as options to show their experiences, have satisfied my efforts, I am very grateful for counting on the Three main editors, Luis Manuel, Lisandro y Nieves, who have accompanied me all along these years, without them it would not have been possible to achieve the recognition given, as a contribution to the strengthening of the system of science and technology of this certified university, and in consequence to experience the participation in the role of Cuban nation, from the individual effort to the collective one.

Many authors have been pleased about their work, knowing it has had a worldwide diffusion, some of them feel misunderstood for not completing their objectives, but, more are not given-up to the revisions up to accomplish the required quality to participate in this scientific and technological process. To all of them, I express my deep gratitude to trust in our work.

The scientific team will continue making every effort with the required accuracy to decide on their candidates, and the decision-makers should better control the expected scientific-innovative product of their accredited professionals, all and each one of them, committed to the mission to strengthen the system of science and technology in the University of Medical Sciences, addressing the main vulnerabilities, and thus favoring the development of our society
