El primer experimento consistió en evaluar el efecto del QuitoMax® en la fase de germinación, para ello se evaluó la germinación sobre placas petri, sembrando 10 semillas de maíz del cultivar Jíbaro/placa. Estas fueron humedecidas a razón de 1 mL de QuitoMax®/semilla con diferentes concentraciones (grupos tratados) o agua destilada (testigo). Las concentraciones consistieron en: 0,05; 0,5 y 1 g L-1 de QuitoMax®. El segundo experimento consistió en diferentes formas de aplicación del QuitoMax®, en etapas tempranas del cultivo de maíz, para lo cual se realizó la siembra en bolsas de polietileno, las semillas fueron embebidas y se le aplicó foliarmente las mejores concentraciones de QuitoMax® encontradas en el ensayo anterior. Se evaluó la germinación, la longitud del tallo y las raíces, la altura de las plantas y la masa seca de las plantas. El análisis de los resultados mostró una mejor respuesta de las plantas cuando recibieron la combinación de la imbibición de las semillas con la aspersión foliar de QuitoMax® a una concentración de 1 g L-1.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the QuitoMax® application effectiveness in early stages of corn (Zea mays L.) crop development. The first experiment consisted of evaluating QuitoMax® effect on the germination stage, for which germination was evaluated on petri dishes, sowing 10 corn seeds of the Jíbaro cultivar/plate. These were moistened with 1 mL of QuitoMax®/seed with different concentrations (treated groups) or distilled water (control). The concentrations were: 0.05, 0.5 and 1 g L-1 of QuitoMax®. The second experiment consisted of different forms of QuitoMax® application, in early stages of corn crop, for which sowing was carried out in polyethylene bags, seeds were embedded and the best QuitoMax® concentrations found in the previous trial were applied foliarly. Germination, stem and root length, plant height and plant dry mass were evaluated. Result analysis showed a better response of plants when they received the combination of seed imbibition with QuitoMax® foliar spraying at a concentration of 1 g L-1.]]></p></abstract>
