Los respiradores N95 certificados por NIOSH, filtran el 95% de las partículas en el aire por tanto son recomendados actualmente por el Centro de Control de Enfermedades para ser usados por los profesionales de la salud ante la pandemia. La escasez de equipos de protección, entre estos el respirador N95 ha generado la necesidad del racionamiento de este recurso. El objetivo de esta revisión sistemática es identificar métodos eficaces para la descontaminación del respirador N95, que mantengan sus propiedades de filtración y ajuste para poder reutilizarlas. Se realizó una búsqueda de recursos digitales en bases de datos: Pubmed, medRxiv, IJOS, Scielo, Elsevier; se receptó análisis sistémicos, metaanálisis, ensayos clínicos. Con base en los resultados obtenidos se puede determinar que el peróxido de hidrógeno vaporizado e irradiación germicida ultravioleta son los métodos más recomendados, por su eficacia germicida, además mantienen la capacidad de filtración y ajuste del respirador. Hace falta mayor investigación para generar protocolos que permitan la reutilización segura de este recurso.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic threatens public health around the world, and healthcare professionals are at increased risk due to their close contact with patients. NIOSH certified N95 masks, can filter 95% of particles in the air and are therefore currently recommended by the Center for Disease Control for use by health professionals in the face of the pandemic. The shortage of protective equipment, including N95 respirators, has generated the need for rationing this resource. The objective of this systematic review is to identify effective methods for the decontamination of the N95 respirator, which maintain its filtration and fit properties for reuse. A earch of digital resources was carried out in databases: Pubmed, medRxiv, IJOS, Scielo, Elsevier; systemic analysis, meta-analysis, clinical trials were accepted. Based on the results obtained, it can be determined that vaporized hydrogen peroxide and ultraviolet germicidal irradiation are the most recommended methods, due to their germicidal efficacy, and they also maintain the filtration and adjustment capacity of the respirator. More research is needed to generate protocols that allow the safe reuse of this resource.]]></p></abstract>
