<self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0034-75312021000500014&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0034-75312021000500014&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0034-75312021000500014&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN Los avances en el conocimiento de las particularidades de la COVID-19 en el período neonatal han conllevado algunos cambios en las recomendaciones para la práctica clínica, razones que nos motivaron a presentar este artículo con el objetivo de actualizar los aspectos relacionados con la atención a recién nacidos con COVID-19 sospechada o confirmada tras un año de pandemia. La infección neonatal por SARS-CoV-2 puede ser congénita o adquirida intraparto o posparto. La incidencia de neonatos positivos a SARS-CoV-2 en mujeres positivas a la COVID-19 cerca del parto es de 1,8-2,7 %. Cerca de 55 % de los neonatos con COVID-19 presentan manifestaciones clínicas. De especial interés, por su gravedad, resulta el síndrome de respuesta inflamatoria fetal o síndrome inflamatorio multisistémico neonatal, de rara presentación. La posibilidad de ocurrencia de infección neonatal congénita e intraparto justifica la implementación de acciones para su diagnóstico y prevención. La lactancia materna en hijos de mujeres con COVID-19 debe mantenerse. Durante la reanimación cardiopulmonar y cuidados respiratorios se requiere el cumplimiento de medidas estrictas de protección. La COVID-19 tiene particularidades en el recién nacido con respecto a otras edades. La evaluación clínica del recién nacido con sospecha de COVID-19 debe tener en cuenta los múltiples patrones que enlazan las variadas alteraciones que se presentan en la díada madre-hijo en el período perinatal, con vista a optimizar el diagnóstico, clasificación y tratamiento de esta enfermedad en el período neonatal.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Advances in the knowledge of the particularities of COVID-19 in the neonatal period have led to some changes in the recommendations for clinical practice, reasons that motivated us to present this article with the aim of updating the aspects related to the care of newborns with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 after a year of pandemic. Neonatal SARS-CoV-2 infection can be congenital or intrapartum or postpartum acquired. The incidence of SARS-CoV-2 positive infants in COVID-19-positive women near delivery is 1.8-2.7%. About 55% of neonates with COVID-19 have clinical manifestations. Of special interest, due to its severity, is the fetal inflammatory response syndrome or neonatal multisystem inflammatory syndrome, of rare presentation. The possibility of occurrence of congenital and intrapartum neonatal infection justifies the implementation of actions for its diagnosis and prevention. Breastfeeding in children of women with COVID-19 should be maintained. During cardiopulmonary resuscitation and respiratory care, compliance with strict protective measures is required. COVID-19 has particularities in the newborn with respect to other ages. The clinical evaluation of the newborn with suspected COVID-19 should take into account the multiple patterns that link the various alterations that occur in the mother-child day by day in the perinatal period, with a view to optimizing the diagnosis, classification and treatment of this disease in the neonatal period.]]></p></abstract>
