Materiales y Métodos : En la finca en estudio, perteneciente al municipio Colón, provincia Matanzas, se cuantificó la biodiversidad durante un año. Se aplicaron los índices de Margalef y Shannon (H´) y se utilizó la metodología de Vázquez y Matienzo (2010) para determinar el grado de complejidad de la biodiversidad en la finca, que considera cinco componentes: nociva, funcional, introducida funcional, auxiliar y productiva.  Resultados : Se obtuvo una riqueza de especies agrupadas en 25 familias, que se destacaron por su uso como frutal, maderable, forraje y alimento animal. Además, se constató el escaso número de plantas bioplaguicidas, de barreras y cercas vivas, así como la poca complejidad de la biodiversidad funcional y la introducida funcional, lo que contribuye a la incidencia y al inadecuado manejo agroecológico de las plagas en el sistema productivo. Finalmente, la unidad se calificó de medianamente compleja (31 %).  Conclusiones : La biodiversidad estuvo representada, principalmente, por especies de las familias Poaceae y Fabaceae, seguidas de Anacardiaceae, Boraginaceae y Rutaceae. El predio se clasificó como medianamente complejo. Las componentes de la biodiversidad más determinantes de ese comportamiento fueron la funcional, la introducida funcional y la nociva, lo que repercutió negativamente en el manejo de las plagas.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Objective : To characterize the biodiversity and determine its degree of complexity, as basis for pest agroecological management in a farmer entity.  Materials and Methods : In the studied farm, belonging to the Colón municipality, Matanzas province, biodiversity was quantified during one year. Margalef and Shannon (H&#8217;) indexes were applied and the methodology proposed by Vázquez and Matienzo (2010) was used to determine the degree of complexity of biodiversity in the farm, which considers five components: noxious, functional, functional introduced, auxiliary and productive.  Results : A richness of species grouped in 25 families was obtained, which stood out for their use as fruit, timber, forage and feed. In addition, the scarce number of biopesticide plants, of living barriers and fences, as well as the little complexity of functional and functional introduced biodiversity, was observed, which contributes to the incidence and inadequate agroecological management of pests in the productive system. Finally, the unit was qualified as little complex (31 %).  Conclusions : Biodiversity was represented mainly by species from the families Poaceae and Fabaceae, followed by Anacardiaceae, Boraginaceae and Rutaceae. The farm was classified as little complex. The most determinant biodiversity components of that performance were the functional, functional introduced and noxious ones, which had negative repercussions on pest management.]]></p></abstract>
