Uma planta medicinal bastante utilizada é a Mangifera indica Linneau pertencente à família Anacardiácea, popularmente conhecida por manga, que é utilizada no tratamento de infecções sem comprovação científica da sua eficiência. Objetivo: avaliar a composição fitoquímica e a atividade antimicrobiana do extrato hidroalcoólico de Mangifera indica L. in vitro pelo método de difusão em disco. Métodos: o extrato bruto foi preparado utilizando droga vegetal das folhas secas com maceração durante 15 dias,na proporção de 30 g para 300 mL de etanol a 95 %. Após filtração, o extrato foi concentrado e seco para obtenção do extrato etanólico bruto. A atividade antimicrobiana foi verificada pelo método de difusão em disco no meio gelosado Müller Hinton, de acordo com a Norma M07-A8. Os testes foram realizados em triplicata e os resultados expressos em milímetro (mm) do diâmetro dos halos de inibição formado ao redor dos discos nas três repetições. Resultados: os resultados mostraram que o extrato hidroalcoólico bruto de Mangifera indica apresentou atividade antimicrobiana in vitro frente à cepa de S. aureus , com concentração inibitória mínima (MIC) de 1,0 µg.disco-1. Entretanto, não apresentou atividade antimicrobiana frente às bactérias Gram-negativas (E. coli, P. aeruginosa e S. typhi). Conclusão: o extrato hidroalcoólico bruto de Mangifera indica L. apresenta atividade antimicrobiana frente ao S. aureus, fornecendo evidência científica e potencial de uso terapêutico.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Introduction: natural products obtained from plants play an important role in the process of discovery of new drugs, either as structural models for the synthesis of new molecules or due to their pharmacological properties. A widely used medicinal plant is Mangifera indica Linneau, of the family Anacardiaceae. Popularly known as 'mango', it is used to treat infection, though its effect has not been scientifically validated. Objective: evaluate the phytochemical composition and antimicrobial activity in vitro of the hydroalcoholic extract from Mangifera indica L. using the disk diffusion method. Methods: the crude extract was prepared from dry leaves macerated for 15 days at a proportion of 30 g to 300 ml of 95 % ethanol. After filtration, the extract was concentrated and dried to obtain the crude ethanol extract. Antimicrobial activity was determined by the disc diffusion method on Mueller-Hinton agar medium, in compliance with Standard M07-A8. Tests were performed in triplicate and results were expressed in millimeters (mm). The diameter of inhibition areas around the discs is formed in three replicates. Results: results show that the crude hydroalcoholic extract from M. indica had antimicrobial activity in vitro against the S. aureus strain with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 1.0 &#956;g.disc-1. No antimicrobial activity was observed against gram-negative bacteria ( E. coli, P. aeruginosa and S. typhi). Conclusion: the crude hydroalcoholic extract from Mangifera indica L. displayed antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, providing scientific evidence for its potential therapeutic use.]]></p></abstract>

Una planta medicinal ampliamente utilizada es la Mangifera indica Linneau que pertenece a la familia Anacardiácea, popularmente conocida como manga y es utilizada en el tratamiento de infecciones, sin validación científica de su efecto. Objetivo: evaluar la composición fitoquímica y la actividad antimicrobiana del extracto hidroalcohólico de Mangifera indica L. in vitro por el método de difusión en disco. Métodos: el extracto crudo se preparó usando hojas secas de la planta de maceración vegetal durante 15 días a una proporción de 30 g a 300 ml de etanol al 95 %. Después de la filtración, el extracto se concentró y se secó para obtener el extracto de etanol crudo. La actividad antimicrobiana se determinó por el método de difusión en disco en Müller Hinton en medio gelosado, de acuerdo con la Norma M07-A8. Las pruebas se realizaron por triplicado y los resultados se expresan en milímetros (mm). El diámetro de zonas de inhibición alrededor de los discos se forman en tres repeticiones. Resultados: los resultados mostraron que el extracto hidroalcohólico crudo de M. indica tuvo actividad antimicrobiana in vitro frente a la cepa de S. aureus con una concentración inhibitoria mínima (CIM) de 1,0 &#956;g.disco-1. No presentó actividad antimicrobiana frente a las bacterias Gram-negativas (E. coli, P. aeruginosa y S. typhi). No present&#243; actividad antimicrobiana frente    a las bacterias Gram-negativas (<i>E. coli</i>, <i>P. aeruginosa</i> y <i>S.    typhi</i>). </font>    <br>   <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"><b>Conclusi&#243;n:    </b> el extracto hidroalcoh&#243;lico crudo de <i>Mangifera indica</i> L. present&#243;    actividad antimicrobiana frente a <i>Staphylococcus aureus,</i> lo que aporta    evidencia cient&#237;fica y su posible uso en la terap&#233;utica. </font></p>     <p> <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"><b>Palabras clave:    </b> <i>Mangifera indica</i> L., bacterias pat&#243;genas, actividad antibacteriana.    </font></p> <hr size="1" noshade>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"><b><font size="3">INTRODU&#199;&#195;O</font></b>    </font></p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> A utiliza&#231;&#227;o    de plantas com fins medicinais, para tratamento, cura e preven&#231;&#227;o    de doen&#231;as, &#233; uma das mais antigas formas de pr&#225;tica medicinal    da humanidade.<sup>1</sup> O conhecimento das propriedades curativas destas    plantas foi adquirido de forma totalmente emp&#237;rica, e transmitido atrav&#233;s    do tempo, como a &#250;nica forma de conhecimento dispon&#237;vel sobre as suas    propriedades medicinais.<sup>2,3</sup> </font></p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> Dentre as plantas    com propriedades medicinais, encontramos a esp&#233;cie <i>Mangifera indica    </i> Linneau conhecida, popularmente, como manga e pertencente &#224; fam&#237;lia    Anacardi&#225;cea. &#201; uma planta nativa da &#193;sia tropical, muito consumida    e cultivada nos tr&#243;picos e regi&#245;es subtropicais do mundo.<sup>4 </sup>Na    medicina popular &#233; recomendada no tratamento das bronquites cr&#244;nicas    e outras afec&#231;&#245;es do peito, disenteria, hemorragias intestinais, diur&#233;tico    e estimulante da fun&#231;&#227;o l&#225;ctea. As folhas s&#227;o adstringentes    e as sementes possuem propriedades anti-helm&#237;nticas.<sup>5 </sup>Com os    frutos prestes a amadurecer faz-se doce estom&#225;quico, &#250;til na cura    da debilidade ou atonia dos &#243;rg&#227;os gastrointestinais.<sup>6</sup>    </font></p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> Nos &#250;ltimos    anos, o conhecimento sobre o potencial terap&#234;utico de plantas com atividade    antimicrobiana tem despertado o interesse cient&#237;fico, buscando novos caminhos    para o controle e tratamento de diversas doen&#231;as.<sup>7,8 </sup>Os desafios    no tratamento de doen&#231;as infecciosas v&#234;m crescendo de forma significativa,    tendo em vista que bact&#233;rias resistentes a m&#250;ltiplos antimicrobianos    representam fonte de incertezas para a cura desses cont&#225;gios, havendo a    necessidade de se buscar novas fontes alternativas com propriedades antibi&#243;ticas    que sejam mais eficientes no combate a infec&#231;&#245;es principalmente as    bacterianas.<sup>9</sup> </font></p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> Assim, o presente    artigo tem como objetivo investigar os constituintes fitoqu&#237;micos e a a&#231;&#227;o    antimicrobiana do extrato hidroalco&#243;lico de<i> M. indica</i>, frente ao    crescimento de bact&#233;rias patog&#234;nicas. </font></p>     <p>&nbsp; </p>     <p> <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"><b><font size="3">MATERIAL    E M&#201;TODO</font></b> </font></p>     <p> <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"><b>Coleta e identifica&#231;&#227;o    do material vegetal</b> </font></p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> O material bot&#226;nico    foi coletado em maio de 2012, nas depend&#234;ncias da Universidade Estadual    do Maranh&#227;o, Campus de Imperatriz, situado no munic&#237;pio de Imperatriz,    Maranh&#227;oe encaminhadas ao Laborat&#243;rio de Biotecnologia Ambiental (LABITEC).    A identifica&#231;&#227;o da esp&#233;cie foi realizada pelo bot&#226;nico Marcelo    Francisco da Silva, Professor do Centro de Estudos Superiores de Imperatriz    (CESI-UEMA). <br/>   Uma exsicata encontra-se depositada no Herb&#225;rio dessa universidade, sob    o n&#250;mero de registro 0087/2012. </font></p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"><b>Obten&#231;&#227;o    dos extratos brutos e prospec&#231;&#227;o fitoqu&#237;mica preliminar</b> </font></p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> As folhas foram    secas em estufa com circula&#231;&#227;o for&#231;ada de ar a 40 &#186;C. Em    seguida foram pulverizadas em moinho de facas, para facilitar a extra&#231;&#227;o    de seus constituintes qu&#237;micos. O extrato bruto foi preparado atrav&#233;s    do m&#233;todo de macera&#231;&#227;o a frio durante 15 dias, utilizando-se    a propor&#231;&#227;o de 1:3, sendo 1 g de cada estrutura vegetal triturada    para 3 mL de etanol (Merck) a 85 % (v/v). O extrato foi filtrado em papel filtro    qualitativo (Quanty, ref. n&#186; JP42) empregando sistema de v&#225;cuo (Marconi,    MA 057/1) e concentrados atrav&#233;s do evaporador rotativo (Tecnal TE-211)    a 40 &#186;C, sob press&#227;o reduzida. Em seguida foi seco em estufa a 40    &#186;C (Labconco, Freezone 4.5) para elimina&#231;&#227;o total do solvente.<sup>10</sup>    O extrato foi armazenado em frasco &#226;mbar e conservado no dessecador at&#233;    serem submetidos aos bioensaios e &#224; prospec&#231;&#227;o qu&#237;mica.<sup>11</sup>    </font></p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> O extrato foi    submetido a uma investiga&#231;&#227;o dos constituintes qu&#237;micos por classe    metab&#243;lica. Os principais constituintes qu&#237;micos analisados foram:    saponinas, a&#231;&#250;cares redutores, prote&#237;nas e amino&#225;cidos,    alcal&#243;ides, polissacar&#237;deos, fen&#243;is e taninos, flavon&#243;ides,    purinas, glicos&#237;deos card&#237;acos, catequinas, sesquiterpenolactonas    e outras lactonas, ester&#243;ides e tripern&#243;ides, deps&#237;dios e depsidonas,    antraquinonas e purinas.<sup>11-13</sup> </font></p>     <p> <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"><b>Microrganismos</b>    </font></p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> As linhagens bacterianas    usadas neste estudo foram cepas padr&#245;es de <i>Escherichia coli</i> (ATCC    25922), <i>Pseudomonas aeruginosa </i>(ATCC 10145), <i> Salmonella typhi </i>    (ATCC 566K) e <i>Staphylococcus aureus</i> (ATCC 25923). As linhagens foram    mantidas para crescimento em meio M&#252;eller-Hinton (AMH) por 24 horas a 37    &#186;C sendo transferidas para meios l&#237;quidos BHI (Infuso c&#233;rebro    cora&#231;&#227;o - Brain Heart Infusion) para testes de atividade antimicrobiana.    Os microrganismos selecionados s&#227;o padr&#245;es para testes de suscetibilidade    antimicrobiana, respons&#225;veis por infec&#231;&#245;es em humanos e apresentam    elevada resist&#234;ncia aos antimicrobianos comerciais. </font></p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"><b>Avalia&#231;&#227;o    da atividade antimicrobiana</b> </font></p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> O ensaio antimicrobiano    foi realizado atrav&#233;s do m&#233;todo de difus&#227;o em disco, com base    Norma M07-A8,<sup>14</sup> onde cada disco est&#233;ril de papel filtro (Qualit,    ref. n&#186; 045.PF) de 6,0 mm de di&#226;metro foi impregnado com al&#237;quotas    (10 &#181;L) dos extratos nas concentra&#231;&#245;es de 10 a 500 &#181;g.disco<sup>-1</sup>.<sup>15</sup>    No teste controle negativo foi aplicado 10 &#181;L de dimetilsuf&#243;xido (DMSO)    (Merck), utilizado na ressuspens&#227;o dos extratos, e como controle positivo    foi usado o antibi&#243;tico clorafenicol (30 &#181;g.disco<sup>-1</sup>) (Sensibiodisc,    Cecon). O in&#243;culo bacteriano foi preparado por suspens&#227;o direta em    solu&#231;&#227;o salina (0,9 %), a partir de cultura de 24 h em BHI. A suspens&#227;o    foi ajustada atrav&#233;s da escala padr&#227;o 0,5 de McFarland (1,5x10<sup>8</sup>    UFC.mL<sup>-1</sup>), sendo semeada em placa de Petri (90 mm de di&#226;metro)    contendo &#225;gar Mueller-Hinton (MHA, Himedia). Um conjunto predeterminado    de discos de extratos vegetais foi colocado na superf&#237;cie do AMH. <br/>   As placas foram incubadas na estufa a 37 &#186;C por 24 h. Ap&#243;s o per&#237;odo    de incuba&#231;&#227;o foi realizada a leitura do di&#226;metro dos halos de    inibi&#231;&#227;o total de crescimento bacteriano, incluindo o di&#226;metro    do disco. Os halos foram medidos em mil&#237;metro com aux&#237;lio de paqu&#237;metro.    </font></p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"><b>Determina&#231;&#227;o    da concentra&#231;&#227;o inibit&#243;ria m&#237;nima (CIM)</b> </font></p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> A concentra&#231;&#227;o    inibit&#243;ria m&#237;nima (CIM) foi determinada, para os extratos que exibiram    melhores atividades antibi&#243;ticas, pelo m&#233;todo de dilui&#231;&#245;es    seriada em meio s&#243;lido.<sup>16 </sup>Al&#237;quotas de diferentes volumes    (1,0, 0,5, 0,25, 0,125, 0,06 e 0,03 mL) de uma solu&#231;&#227;o a 20,000 &#181;g.mL<sup>-1</sup>    foram colocadas em placa de Petri e homogeneizadas com 10 mL do meio de cultura    ideal para o crescimento de cada microrganismo. Em seguida foram semeados, em    estrias, sobre a superf&#237;cie do meio e as placas foram incubadas a 37 &#186;C    e 30 &#186;C por 24 h e 48 h. Valores de CIM iguais ou superiores a 1000 &#181;g.mL<sup>-1</sup>    n&#227;o foram considerados satisfat&#243;rios.<sup>17</sup> </font></p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"><b>An&#225;lise    estat&#237;stica</b> </font></p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> Na an&#225;lise    estat&#237;stica dos dados foram utilizados o teste de Kruskal-Wallis, de Mann-Whitney    U e o teste de compara&#231;&#245;es m&#250;ltiplas de Dunn. Os testes foram    considerados significantes quando o valor <i>P </i>foi menor que 0,05. No teste    de compara&#231;&#245;es m&#250;ltiplas de Dunn foi adotado o n&#237;vel global    de signific&#226;ncia de 0,05. </font></p>     <p>&nbsp; </p>     <p> <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"><b><font size="3">RESULTADOS    </font> </b> </font></p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> A triagem fitoqu&#237;mica    do extrato etan&#243;lico das folhas e caule de <i>M. indica </i>obtido da planta    seca indicou a presen&#231;a de saponinas, alcal&#243;ides, a&#231;ucares redutores,    flavon&#243;ides, fen&#243;is e taninos, ester&#243;ides e triterpen&#243;ides    (<a href="#t1">Tabela 1</a>). </font></p>     ]]></body>

O DMSO utilizado como controle negativo n&#227;o inibiu ocrescimento das cepas    padr&#227;o e o antibi&#243;tico clorafenicol apresentou halos de inibi&#231;&#227;o    de acordo ao perfil de sensibilidade,<sup>14</sup> como mostra a <a href="#t2">Tabela    2</a>. </font></p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> Neste estudo foi    observado aumento da resposta inibit&#243;ria com o aumento das concentra&#231;&#245;es    do extrato, com a exce&#231;&#227;o das cepas de bact&#233;rias Gram-negativas,    que apesar do aumento n&#227;o houve altera&#231;&#227;o nos valores dos halos    de inibi&#231;&#227;o. Esse efeito pode estar relacionado ao processo de sinergismo,    onde o componente com propriedade antimicrobiana pode ter se agregado a um elemento    qu&#237;mico do extrato, beneficiando metabolicamente o crescimento bacteriano    ou inibindo a a&#231;&#227;o antimicrobiana da mol&#233;cula. </font></p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> A concentra&#231;&#227;o    inibit&#243;ria m&#237;nima do extrato da folha de <i>M. indica </i>apresentou    o melhor desempenho para inibir o crescimento da cepa de <i>S. aureus</i> na    concentra&#231;&#227;o de 1,0 &#181;g.disco<sup>-1</sup>. </font></p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> Este estudo fornece    resultados que demonstram a efic&#225;cia do extrato etan&#243;lico de <i>M.    indica</i>. Entretanto, s&#227;o necess&#225;rios outros estudos, inclusive,    empregando outras metodologias, com o intuito de assegurar os resultados aqui    encontrados e fornecer subst&#226;ncias com atividade antibacteriana <i>in vitro</i>    frente a microrganismos patog&#234;nicos. </font></p>     <p>&nbsp;</p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"><b><font size="3">DISCUSS&#195;O</font></b>    </font></p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">As plantas medicinais    t&#234;m sido utilizadas como agentes antimicrobianos considerando sua composi&#231;&#227;o    e potencial de inibi&#231;&#227;o, uma vez que existe forte tend&#234;ncia para    o uso quando aplicadas metodologias capazes de comprovar a efic&#225;cia frente    aos malef&#237;cios provenientes de microrganismos patog&#234;nicos. </font></p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> Os ensaios de    atividade antimicrobiana <i>in vitro</i> mostraram que a aplica&#231;&#227;o    da medicina popular, representa uma fonte de descoberta para in&#250;meros f&#225;rmacos,    al&#233;m de pesquisas relacionadas &#224; procura de atributos terap&#234;uticos    trazidas por estas, formando importante ferramenta para elucida&#231;&#227;o    cient&#237;fica das propriedades curativas direcionando a informa&#231;&#245;es    cient&#237;ficas para o uso seguro e adequado de plantas e seus derivados.<sup>1-3</sup>    </font></p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> Os resultados    obtidos evidenciaram que o potencial de inibi&#231;&#227;o bacteriana do extrato    hidroalc&#243;olico de <i>M. indica </i>foi menos eficiente para as cepas de    <i>E. coli</i>, <i>P. aeuriginosa</i> e <i>S. typhi</i>. Com exce&#231;&#227;o    para o <i>S. aureus</i> que apresentou atividade antimicrobiana bastante elevada.<sup>15,18</sup>    </font></p>     <p> <font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">&#201; prov&#225;vel    que esta diferen&#231;a de atividade antimicrobiana esteja relacionada n&#227;o    s&#243; a atividade biol&#243;gica dos produtos testados, mas tamb&#233;m devido    a presen&#231;a de uma das estruturas da membrana externa das bact&#233;rias    Gram-negativas, que pode impedir a passagem de mol&#233;culas atrav&#233;s desta    membrana, al&#233;m de particularidades relacionadas aos diferentes mecanismos    de resist&#234;ncia das linhagens em estudo.<sup>19,20</sup> </font></p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> A a&#231;&#227;o    antimicrobiana &#233; ocasionada por efeitos t&#243;xicos contra a membrana    citoplasm&#225;tica dos microrganismos. A hidrofobicidade dessas mol&#233;culas    as possibilita se particionarem nas membranas celulares dos microrganismos,    alterando suas fun&#231;&#245;es e as deixando mais perme&#225;veis. Sendo assim,    o efeito como perturba&#231;&#227;o da membrana citoplasm&#225;tica, ruptura    do fluxo de el&#233;trons, altera&#231;&#227;o no transporte de mol&#233;culas    atrav&#233;s da membrana, inibi&#231;&#227;o de atividade de certas enzimas    e coagula&#231;&#227;o do conte&#250;do citoplasm&#225;tico s&#227;o alguns    mecanismos envolvidos na promo&#231;&#227;o do poder antimicrobianos descritos    na literatura.<sup>21</sup> </font></p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> Os resultados    s&#227;o promissores para o seguimento das investiga&#231;&#245;es desta esp&#233;cie    de planta frente aos microrganismos testados a fim de determinar a concentra&#231;&#227;o    inibit&#243;ria m&#237;nima e realizar testes pr&#233;-cl&#237;nicos e cl&#237;nicos.    A menor concentra&#231;&#227;o inibit&#243;ria (MIC) encontrada foi de 1,0 &#181;g.disco<sup>-1</sup>para    o <i>S. aureus</i>; 20,0 &#181;g.disco<sup>-1 </sup>para <i>E.coli</i>, 60 &#181;g.disco<sup>-1</sup>    para <i>P. aeuriginosa</i> e 8,0 &#181;g.disco<sup>-1 </sup>para <i>S.typhi</i>.    </font></p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> A presen&#231;a    de determinados constituintes fitoqu&#237;micos (alcaloides, fen&#243;is e taninos,    saponinas, esteroides e triterpen&#243;ides e antraquinonas) encontrados no    extrato de <i>M. indica </i> exercem uma a&#231;&#227;o antimicrobiana. Os fen&#243;is    e taninos possuindo uma a&#231;&#227;o antis&#233;ptica, por origem da sua a&#231;&#227;o    adstringente, agindo tamb&#233;m como antihemorr&#225;gicos, antidiarreicos    e cicatrizantes.<sup>22</sup> Os flavon&#243;ides s&#227;o indicados como espamol&#237;ticos,    antiinflamat&#243;rios, anticarcinog&#234;nicos, antial&#233;rgicos, antiulcerog&#234;nicos,    antivaricosos, diur&#233;ticos, antivir&#243;ticos, antioxidantes, antimicrobianos    e tamb&#233;m fungist&#225;ticos.<sup>23</sup> </font></p>     ]]></body>
<body><![CDATA[<p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> Na fam&#237;lia    Anacardiaceae, j&#225; se apresentam alguns resultados na literatura com a utiliza&#231;&#227;o    do extrato de<i> Anacardium occidentale </i>L. frente a bact&#233;rias gram-positivas:    <i>Proteus morgani</i>, <i>Psudomonas aeruginosa</i>, <i>Escherichia coli </i>e    <i>Salmonella typhi</i>, obtendo atividade antibacteriana em altas concentra&#231;&#245;es.<sup>24</sup>    Em outros trabalhos o cajueiro demonstrou ser eficaz, sobre esp&#233;cies de    Streptococcus.<sup>25</sup> </font></p>     <p align="left"><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> Alguns    pesquisadores j&#225; utilizaram propriedades antimicrobianas extra&#237;das    de plantas, como a <i>Myrciaria cauliflora</i> (Mart.) <i>O. Berg</i>. (Jabuticabeira),    <i>Ottonia martiana Miq</i>. (Piperaceae), <i>Psidium guajava </i>L<i>., </i>que    revelaram bons resultados frente a microrganismos patog&#234;nicos.<sup>26</sup>    </font></p>     <p><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2"> Este estudo demonstrou    o potencial antibacteriano do extrato hidroalco&#243;lico bruto de <i>Mangifera    indica </i>Linneau no tratamento frente ao <i>Staphylococcus aureus</i>.
