RESUMEN
La investigación es una de las misiones de la universidad moderna, sin ella casi no existiría y quedaría reducida a un simple establecimiento de enseñanza, ya que es la investigación la que lleva a la creación y en este proceso se encuentra la base del progreso.

La investigación es una de las misiones de la universidad moderna, sin ella casi no existiría y quedaría reducida a un simple establecimiento de enseñanza, ya que es la investigación la que lleva a la creación y en este proceso se encuentra la base del progreso.
El gráfico que a continuación se muestra representa el comportamiento de las publicaciones científicas del claustro de la carrera de Estomatología en la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Sancti Spíritus en los últimos años. Se puede apreciar que del 2009 al 2012 se mantuvo baja la producción científica de los profesores, a partir de este año se observa un considerable ascenso y el valor más alto se corresponde con el curso 2012-2013.
El número total de publicaciones del claustro en esta etapa es de 109, para un índice de publicaciones por profesor es de 1.62. De esta cifra 83 son publicaciones referadas, para un índice de 1.23, y el 1.11 corresponde al grupo 1 y 2 (Web of Scencie y BDI).

The graph that is shown represents the behavior of the scientific publications of the cloister of the Stomatology career in the University of Medical Sciences in Sancti Spíritus in the last years. You can appreciate that from 2009 to 2012 the scientific production of the professors stayed low, starting from this year a considerable ascent is observed and the highest value belongs to the course 2012-2013
