El Rendezvous es un proceso esencial en Redes Radio Cognitivas mediante el cual, dos o más usuarios coinciden en un mismo canal y establecen un enlace de comunicación. Con el objetivo de minimizar el tiempo de Rendezvous en las redes radio cognitivas se ha desarrollado la idea de utilizar múltiples radios en los algoritmos de Rendezvous, pero es importante verificar que no se afecte injustificablemente el costo energético asociado al funcionamiento simultáneo de dichos dispositivos. Este trabajo se centra en analizar la relación de compromiso que toma lugar entre el consumo energético y el tiempo de Rendezvous cuando son empleados múltiples radios. Se seleccionaron los algoritmos RPS y G-FDCH-CS para efectuar simulaciones y compararlos atendiendo a su rendimiento debido a que son algoritmos que fueron diseñados para emplear múltiples radios. En los escenarios simulados, con el aumento del número de radios, el costo energético por ranura de tiempo aumenta en ambos algoritmos; y luego de cierto punto, este incremento del número de radios no representa una mejora considerable en términos de TTR sin embargo sí trae asociado un costo energético apreciable. La tendencia al incremento del costo energético no se manifiesta de igual manera en ambos algoritmos debido a las estrategias que utilizan para dividir y asignar roles a los radios. Mientras que en el RPS aumenta linealmente, en el G-FDCH-CS aumenta de manera escalonada mostrando un mejor desempeño, lo cual puede ser aplicado en el diseño e implementación futura de redes radio cognitivas.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT Cognitive Radio is promising and attractive solution to the problem of existing spectral inefficiency. Rendezvous is an essential process in Cognitive Radio Networks through which two or more users coincide in the same channel and establish a communication link. In order to minimize the time to rendezvous in cognitive networks, the idea of using multiple radios in rendezvous algorithms has been developed, but it is important to verify that the energy cost associated with the simultaneous operation of these devices is not unjustifiably affected. This work focuses on analyze the tradeoff between energetic consumption and time to Rendezvous when multiple radios are employed. The RPS and G-FDCH-CS algorithms were selected for run simulations and compare them based on their performance. In the simulated scenarios, with the increase in the number of radios, the energetic cost per time slot increase in both algorithms; and after a period, this increase of radios isn&#8217;t an material improve in TTR terms and it means an appreciable energetic cost. The increasing behavior in energetic cost isn&#8217;t equal in both algorithms due to the different strategies used to divide and assign the radios&#8217; roles. Meanwhile RPS increases lineally, G-FDCH-CS increases in a stair way showing a better performance.]]></p></abstract>
