It was carried out in the Basic Unit of Cooperative Production (UBPC) ¨Máximo Gómez¨, belonging to the municipality of Camajuaní, Villa Clara. To carry out the research, a characterization of the study area was made; the variations of the furrow profile were determined; resistance to penetration and soil moisture in the root zone and in the street, also damage to the cane strain was identified. The main results showed agglomerations of residues from the previous harvest and clean spaces without stumps and new sprout. The resistance to soil penetration showed values of 0,8 and 1,2 kPa on surface of the street and the area of the stumps respectively, increasing with the depth of the soil up to 30 cm. Soil moisture in the stumps was higher than in the street up to 25 cm deep, with values of 28,6 and 30% respectively on the surface. For its part, the profile of the furrows showed a considerable variability in regarding the geometry and height of the ridges. Limitations were found in terms of the depth of the main roots, their vitality and quantity, the secondary or capillary roots showed low development.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo determinar los principales efectos sobre el suelo y la cepa, de las actividades mecanizadas en plantaciones de caña de azúcar. El mismo se realizó en la Unidad Básica de Producción Cooperativa (UBPC) ¨Máximo Gómez¨, perteneciente al municipio de Camajuaní, Villa Clara. Para la realización de la investigación se llevó a cabo una caracterización de la zona de estudio; se determinaron las variaciones del perfil de los surcos; la resistencia a la penetración y la humedad del suelo en la zona radicular y en la calle y se identificaron daños sobre la cepa de caña. Los principales resultados mostraron aglomeraciones de residuos de la cosecha anterior y espacios despoblados de cepas y nuevos brotes. La resistencia a la penetración del suelo, mostró valores de 0,8 y 1,2 kPa en la superficie de la calle y de la zona de la cepa respectivamente, aumentando con la profundidad del suelo hasta los 30 cm. La humedad del suelo en la cepa resultó mayor que en la calle hasta los 25 cm de profundidad, con valores de 28,6 y 30% respectivamente en la superficie. Por su parte, el perfil de los surcos mostró que existe una considerable variabilidad en cuanto a la geometría y la altura de los camellones. Se encontraron limitaciones en cuanto a la profundidad de las raíces principales, su vitalidad y cantidad, las raíces secundarias o capilares mostraron un bajo desarrollo.]]></p></abstract>
