The present work was developed in Los Hermanos Farm, located in El Almirante Community, Bayamo Municipality, whose main economic line is the raising of pigs. The amount of manure generated has a theoretical biogas potential of generating more than 200 m3d-1; however, the current treatment system, made up of 4 biodigesters of 60 m3 each, produce approximately 100 m3d-1 of biogas, which allows 149 people to be provided for cooking food in the 50 closest homes. Therefore, the objective of this work was to propose a biogas distribution network, based on technical, economic, energy and environmental criteria, that allows an adequate distribution of biogas for use in cooking food in Cuban rural communities. In the present investigation, the branched biogas distribution network presented several advantages compared to a circular distribution network according to the six established priority orders. As the main result of this work, it was shown that biogas distribution networks have important environmental and social benefits; likewise, the favorable results of the financial indicators denote the economic feasibility of these systems, considering the significance of saving electricity in homes.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN Generalmente, las aplicaciones del biogás se han limitado solamente al uso puntual en los lugares donde se produce, siendo muy escasa las experiencias relacionadas a la distribución en red en las viviendas para uso doméstico. El presente trabajo se desarrolló en la finca Los Hermanos, ubicada en la comunidad El Almirante, municipio Bayamo, cuyo principal renglón económico es la crianza de cerdos. La cantidad de purines generados tiene un potencial teórico de biogás de generar diariamente más de 200 m3d-1; no obstante, el actual sistema de tratamiento, compuesto por 4 biodigestores de 60 m3 cada uno, producen aproximadamente 100 m3d-1 de biogás, lo que permite proveer a 149 personas para las labores de cocción de alimentos en las 50 viviendas más cercanas. Por tanto, el objetivo de este trabajo fue proponer una red de distribución de biogás, a partir de criterios técnicos, económicos, energéticos y ambientales, que permita una adecuada distribución del biogás para su utilización en la cocción de alimentos en las comunidades rurales cubanas. En la presente investigación, la red de distribución de biogás ramificada presentó varias ventajas comparadas con una red de distribución circular de acuerdo a los seis órdenes de prioridades establecidos. Como principal resultado de este trabajo, se demostró que las redes de distribución de biogás tienen importantes beneficios ambientales y sociales; asimismo, los favorables resultados de los indicadores financieros indican la factibilidad de económica de esos sistemas considerando lo significativo que representa el ahorro de energía eléctrica en las viviendas.]]></p></abstract>
