In this paper, the theoretical foundations of the sugarcane base cutting process and the factors to be considered in the analysis of the cane base-cutter blade interaction are addressed. The impact of the field conditions, the process parameters and the handling and assembly of the cutter-blade on the quality and efficiency of mechanized harvesting are also analyzed.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN Las nuevas tecnologías introducidas en la cosecha mecanizada de la caña de azúcar favorecen el aumento de la productividad, sin embargo, el incremento de la vida útil de los órganos de trabajo de las máquinas agrícolas continúa siendo un aspecto importante a considerar para su mejor desempeño, donde se identifica al desgaste abrasivo como el fenómeno físico presente en sus diferentes elementos que más atenta contra su eficaz funcionamiento. En el presente trabajo se abordan los fundamentos teóricos del proceso de corte base de la caña de azúcar, los factores a tener en cuenta en el análisis de la interacción caña-segmento de corte base, así como la repercusión de las condiciones de los campos, los parámetros del proceso y el manejo y montaje de los segmentos de corte base en la calidad y eficiencia de la cosecha mecanizada.]]></p></abstract>
