<self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S2079-34802019000200103&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S2079-34802019000200103&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.sld.cu/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S2079-34802019000200103&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to show a review of the studies carried out in Creole breeds in aspects of conservation, characterization and selection using genomic information, for the traditional characteristics, but it also includes variables related to disease tolerance and adaptation such as the heat tolerance index and the adaptation coefficient, which allow having populations with higher productivity but conserving their adaptive capacities to tropical conditions, therefore they will be more resilient to climate variability. Additionally, the study exposes the selection strategies for newly introduced breeds such as the Cebu Brahman breed and Simmental breed, carried out with the participation of farmer associations and focused on the multiplication of genetically superior animals, using cutting-edge reproductive tools, responding effectively to the needs of adaptation or resilience imposed by the change in environmental conditions that occur in tropical regions.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN Este trabajo tiene como objetivo presentar una revisión de los trabajos realizados en las razas criollas en aspectos de conservación, caracterización y selección utilizando información genómica, para las características tradicionales, pero también incluye variables relacionadas con tolerancia a enfermedades y adaptación como el índice de tolerancia al calor y el coeficiente de adaptación, que permiten tener poblaciones con mayor productividad pero conservando sus capacidades adaptativas a las condiciones tropicales, por ende serán más resilientes a la variabilidad climática. Adicionalmente, el trabajo expone las estrategias de selección para razas de reciente introducción como son la raza Cebú Brahman y la raza Simmental, realizado con la participación de las asociaciones de productores y enfocado a la multiplicación de animales genéticamente superiores, utilizando herramientas reproductivas de última generación, respondiendo de manera efectiva a las necesidades de adaptación o resiliencia impuestas por el cambio en las condiciones medioambientales que se dan en las regiones tropicales.]]></p></abstract>
